A small group of mandalas this week. I am not doodling much at the moment. I am blaming it on the giant tv. I don't have to find a way to focus, the picture is enough.
Maybe it is travel. I was gone most of the time that I would have made this week's doodle.
Look at me, making excuses for something that needs no excuse. I have scattered some beautiful stars across your screen.
I don't need to make excuses for that.
Comets, diatoms, stars, cells, mandalas, medallions, rose windows, wheels, holes, dots,. Whatever I call these drawings, circles are timeless.They are all around us.
Remember when you were a kid and your teacher asked you to list all the things that you can think of that are round in 5 minutes? Here goes: sun, planets, the universe, plates, bowls, buttons, pots and pans, flowers, buttons, marbles, manhole covers, rings, ferris wheels, carousels, records (cds whatever), eyeballs, oranges, coins, hubcaps, cookies
Racked my brain and that's what I get. What can you add to it?
This is not the doodle I meant to post this week. I lost the doodle I was going to post. I have no idea where I put it. This can't be the first time I have done this, but it is really amazing that this does not happen more often. Lucky for me, I doodle a lot, and this week I had an emergency back up doodle ready to step in.
This is a very bold doodle. I am back to blacking things in. I wonder if it is seasonal? Do I make heavier doodles in the cold months and lighter ones in the warm ones?
A quick scroll shows that they started getting less blackened in May and they started creeping back in September, so it is true for this summer anyway.
Even though it was first runner-up, there are alot of things that I like about this one. There are some nice medallions, I especially like the bottom medallion. The top is unusual because it breaks out of the grid. I like how bold it is, I am finding the interplay between the crisp white and the solid black very appealing visually.
I also like the eye motif. You may be looking at this doodle, but it is looking right back at you.
