I picked this doodle because of the octagon shaped elements inset into a larger pattern, which in turn is inset into a patterned field. I like the hooked edges and how they relate to the waves/swirls/hooks in the larger pattern.
The ocotgon, or lozenge, shape is a classical design element. You can find it in tile work and textiles the world over. It is unusual in my doodles.
I have a friend, Pattie, who writes poetry. She says she gets crushes on words. She gets attracted to how particular words sound, and wants to use them. I have the drawing version. I am smitten with this shape at the moment. This doodle makes me want to use this shape in something. Or at least draw it a lot.
I went gallery hopping on Thursday. It was fun to get out, and I saw some wonderful stuff. I can't wait to show you! Tune in on Tuesday to read all about it.
