I just found out that my friend Amy has a neato bog. She is a young, enthusiastic artist, feeling her way around various media. I like her fun encaustic pieces.
I used to be in a gallery with another Amy who works in encaustic as well. I actually have one of hers, bought long before the daughter went to college. She is an art selling entrepreneural inspiration.
You don't have to be named Amy to work with wax. Gallery mate Raina also makes beautiful encaustic works. I can't find any examples, so check out her watercolor mandalas.
Alas, I cannot do any encaustic works, even though I love them. It involves heat and hot melted wax, people, I have a hard enough time remembering to off the oven! I love my house. It would be a shame to burn it down.
