We had lots of snow (lots for Portland anyway) last week, so here is a doodle that looks like a snowflake. I draw lots of these circular images, be forwarned! Call them flowers, snowflakes, diatoms, plankton, stars, the Eye of God, or mandalas. They are all of these things and none of them.
All of my artwork starts its life as doodles. Doodling enables me to free myself from any preconceived ideas about what I am doing. If I sit down to draw a cat, I expect the drawing to be a cat and to exhibit catness. When I am doodling, I am not drawing anything in particular. Doodling is the drawing version of dreams. A doodle is just what it is.
and this is as good of a place as any. The usual subjects: inspiration, artwork, process, crafts, gardening, some laughs and the Doodle of the Week. I draw all the time, and pretty much on anything. No piece of paper is safe if I have a pen. Some of these things make their way into my artwork, some exist just to puzzel me. Come along, and we will find out where this leads together.
